KIZILAY HOSTED EU REGIONAL TRUST FUND (MADAD) MEETING IN ISTANBUL

Turkish Red Crescent hosted Annual Red Cross Red Crescent MADAD Partners' Meeting organized in İstanbul with the participation of partner National Societies and International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) between 19-20 November.

With the crisis going into its 9th year, millions of Syrians left their homes and seek refuge in neighbouring countries. The EU Regional Trust Fund Response to the Syrian crisis has given support to Syrian refugees, Internally Displaced People (IDPs) and host communities. Turkey, comprising of more than 4 million refugees, of which 3.6 million are Syrians under temporary protection, has a largest share in the Fund, which has been provided to also Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.

The overall focus of the meeting which hosted more than 40 representatives from 15 partner National Societies was learning and transition into post MADAD programming. Sessions focusing on learning from MADAD Fund and how to provide sustainability of current achievements were discussed during the meeting. The event also provided a platform where National Societies share their own experiences in MADAD implementing countries.

The Deputy Director General of Turkish Red Crescent Alper Küçük, Director of Migration Services Bayram Selvi, IFRC Turkey Head of Office Metter Petersen and Danish Red Cross MADAD Program Coordinator Tina Breum Mariegaard made speeches highlighting future collaboration.
